Perfection in helmet construction

  • Maximum protection twin shell construction
  • Minimal weight (250 g is enough)
  • Full ventilation
  • Unequalled versatility

Krypton

The Krypton is a revolution in mountaineering helmets. Competitors will now have to match the ventilation, fly weight, simple adjustment system, comfort and forward design. The newly developed and patented twin shell permits efficient ventilation all over the head. All air vents between the two helmet shells are connected by channels and guarantee a continuous exchange of air. By turning a button the helmet can be adjusted to fit any head size in a seconds. The Coolmax padding can be removed and washed, and it is a pleasure to wear it. Four clips on the helmet shell enable you to fasten any headlamp on the market easily and quickly.

Care instructions for SALEWA helmets

The following care instructions for use on the part of the end user can also be useful in your sales talk: In order to ensure adequate protection, the helmet should fit comfortably on your head. The strap should be adjusted and fastened securely, so that the helmet fits snugly and cannot move and is neither too tight nor too loose on your head. Warning: No helmet is able to protect your head fully from the forces generated by a violent impact.

Care

Clean the helmet with mild soap and water, leaving it to dry at room temperature. Avoid using chemical detergents or solvents. Do not expose the helmet to direct sunlight and keep it away from sources of heat. Do not use adhesives and/ or paint on the helmet, unless approved by the manufacturer. Any unapproved work or modification that is carried out on the helmet may compromise the protection it offers. The helmet should be replaced after a violent impact, even if there is no visible damage, as the shell may not be capable of absorbing further impacts.

PUTTING THE HELMET ON:

For maximum protection it is recommended to use an adequately sized helmet, which fi ts well and offers a high degree of wearing comfort. When securely attached by the straps and correctly adjusted, the helmet may not be easily moved or taken off the head. Prior to use a check must be made to see whether the helmet covers half of the forehead, and additionally adjusted using the straps so that placement is below the ears, at the correct distance to the lower jaw, and the clasp is fastened beneath the chin. Finally, adjust the helmet in accordance with the size of the head by means of the back knurl (also refer to positioning mechanism). The helmet is put on as soon as it has been properly adjusted. Only in this way can its protective capacity be guaranteed in an emergency.

THE ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM CONSISTS OF:

1 A knurl: when turned to the right, the inner dimensions of the helmet are decreased. However, when turned to the left, the dimensions are increased in a fast and simple way. 1 A chin strap, which must be fastened in every situation. A well-fi tting helmet doesn’t allow itself to be moved sideways, nor forwards or backwards. Every other change in the helmet’s wearing position can have an adverse effect on its protective capacity.

PROTECTIVE CAPACITY AND EXCHANGE:

The helmet is constructed in such a way that it can be partially destroyed through the absorption of impact energy (rockslides, falls etc.) in order to protect the wearer’s head. Even if the helmet does not show any visible damage following such an impact, it should be exchanged in order to again be able to provide a 100% guarantee for its protective capacity in the event of a new impact from the above referenced forces.

MAINTENANCE, CARE AND AGEING:

The interior and exterior condition of the helmet must be examined before and after each use. The exterior shell can be cleaned with clear water. The chin straps can be cleaned with pure water and mild soap. 1 Do not use any chemically aggressive or corrosive detergents. Store the helmet away from light, in a cool and well-ventilated place. 2 UV rays (sunlight) or high temperatures (3 if the helmet is left in the car in summer, for example) can have an adverse effect on the product and, consequently, on its protective capacity as well. 3 A backpack, bag or other appropriate container is recommended for transportation. In normal usage (without the impact of rockslides, falls etc.), it is recommended that the helmet be changed every three years.
